Mana Club
Social Media Event Post
This flier design was for an event for the Mana Club at MiraCosta College. The Mana Club is a student Native
Hawaiian Pacific Islander based club that strives to
enhance their community. The event was a beach
clean up in Oceanside, California.

During my research, I explored different Pacific Islander patterns ranging from Samoan, Maori, Hawaiian, and Tibetan. I leaned more towards Samoan and Hawaiian pattern making as I am aware that there is a large population of Samoans and Hawaiians in Oceanside and at MiraCosta. The diamond shape itself is inspired by the shark tooth shapes found in the pattern. Being familiar to the location, I decided to add the element of the infamous Oceanside pier in the design for recognition
and familiarity.
I created two versions for them to use. One is of a black and blue color palette with a sandy texture while the other one is more traditionally colored of a beach. The font chosen was
Aller Display. Overall, the club members were satisfied with the design and used it to promote their event on Instagram in which they had a great turn out of attendees.
